Online certification program teams up with New York Times

A college in Arizona has teamed up with The New York Times Knowledge Network (NYTKN) to provide online certification courses for teachers.

The program is designed for individuals who have a bachelor's degree and who wish to gain extra training in a particular field, such as elementary, secondary or special education. These training courses can serve as supplemental material for students who are pursuing a Masters of Education degree.

According to the college, the online certification program has 48 start dates throughout the year, which provides flexibility for teachers who have busy schedules. In addition, the training is ideal for instructors who live in rural areas and have limited access to higher education facilities.

Furthermore, the web-based post-baccalaureate program has been approved by the Arizona State Board of Education. The certification is accepted by many states across the U.S.

Thanks to the partnership with the NYTKN, online students will have access to a vast amount of content resources, the school reports.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that many educators who earn special certifications can receive higher salaries as well as reimbursement for their courses.
