UNE Education Department faculty member, William Diehl will be a part of a panel at the upcoming 6th annual Quality Matters Conference in Baltimore, MD.
Research focused on Quality Matters and on online learning will only advance through application of strong research design. One of the requirements of that rigorous process is to build on, at least be attentive to, previous relevant research findings. Another is to establish a doable research question which impacts the selection of methodologies whether they are quantitative, qualitative, or mixed. The director of research at Quality Matters (QM), Kay Shattuck, and QM research colleagues, including William Diehl. will be available during the conference to engage in discuss with attendees about designing a study focused on any aspect of QM. The QM Toolkit for Designing a Study on the Impact of Quality Matters and other take-away resources will be available.
William Diehl worked with Quality Matters to develop the QM Research Library and also co-authored the review of research literature for the 2011-2013 edition of the Quality Matters Rubric (TM), which is officially used by online teaching faculty and instructional designers at hundreds of subscribing higher education international institutions. He was also a co-facilitator of the 2010 Quality Matters Interaction Summit in which distance education experts met to discuss the value of interaction in online course design. The summit resulted in significant resources for over 14,000 practitioners.
